Here are a few simple precautions you should take when using candles or tea lights in the home:
- Make sure candles are secured in a proper holder and are away from flammable materials, such as curtains
- Never leave children or pets alone with lit candles
- Put candles out when you leave the room, and make sure they’re put out completely before you go to bed
- Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches and debris
- Burn candles in a well-ventilated room, but avoid drafts, vents or air currents which can cause rapid or uneven burning, sooting, and excessive dripping
- Keep the wick short and trim before burning where necessary. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping or flaring
- Don’t move candles once they are lit
- Once lit, the candle vessel will be hot and can cause burns. Do not handle whilst it is lit or whilst the wax is still liquid- it may burn.
- Don't burn several candles close together as this can cause flaring. Keep each candle at least 10cm apart.
Wax Melt Safety
Safety Advice:
- Remove wax melt from packaging prior to use. Do not melt the wax in the plastic pot. The wax melt will simply pop out of the melt pot ready for use.
- We use natural botanicals, flowers, fruits and spices to decorate our wax melts, it’s normal for these to discolour once they are heated. This does not affect the fragrance.
- Keep wax melts and warmers away from children and pets.
- Never leave a wax warmer on while you're away.
- Use a safe surface: Place your wax burner/warmer on a stable, heat-resistant surface that's away from flammable objects.
- Do not burn for longer than 4 hours. Only use 4 hour tealights.
- Only use wax melts in burners that are suitable for wax melts.
- Never add essential oils, fragrance oils or water to wax melts
- Don't touch or move the burner while it's in use, as the heated wax can burn.
- Don't overfill the bowl, as hot wax could spill and damage surfaces or cause scalding. Our melts can easily be cut in half and the other half stored in the pot.
- Over time, the fragrance will start to reduce and it’s time to replace. Wait for the wax to cool before popping it out of your burner and discard in your household waste.
