Two Face Creams, Two Different Rituals
Skincare can get very noisy.
There’s always another active, another step, another ingredient you’re apparently supposed to be using - and sometimes what your skin actually wants is something much simpler: moisture, comfort and consistency.
That was very much the thinking behind my two new face creams, The Calm Ritual and The Glow Ritual.
They’re both made without added fragrance or essential oils, but they were created with slightly different skin days in mind.

When your skin just wants comfort
The Calm Ritual is the quieter of the two.
It’s a rich daily face cream designed around comfort, softness and uncomplicated moisturising.
It contains a nourishing blend of sunflower oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, beeswax, borage, rosehip and aloe, alongside a botanical complex of reishi mushroom, oat and green tea, plus calendula-infused sunflower oil.
There’s no added fragrance. No essential oils. No attempt to make the cream smell like anything in particular.
It’s simply there to moisturise, soften and leave the skin feeling comfortable and cared for.
That makes it especially lovely when your skin feels dry, a little overwhelmed, or when you simply prefer a very simple facial routine.
Sometimes that’s all you want from skincare.
Cleanse. Moisturise. Done.

When your skin looks a little tired
The Glow Ritual takes a slightly different route.
It is also free from added fragrance and essential oils, but it does have a very subtle natural coffee scent from the coffee-derived ingredients themselves.
Nothing has been added simply to perfume the cream.
The focus here is more on antioxidant-rich ingredients and luminosity.
At its heart is a coffee-derived complex containing coffee seed oil, Vitamin C, caffeine, ferulic acid and Vitamin E, alongside sea buckthorn and grapeseed oils.
It was created for those days when skin looks a little flat, dull or tired and you want something that still feels nourishing, but with a little more going on.
The aim isn’t an artificial “glow”.
It’s simply well-moisturised, conditioned skin that looks fresher and more luminous.
So which one is for you?
There isn’t really a right or wrong answer.
If your skin is asking for comfort, simplicity and a rich moisturising step, The Calm Ritual is probably the natural choice.
If your skin feels generally happy but looks dull or tired, The Glow Ritual may suit you better.
And you don’t necessarily have to belong permanently to one camp.
Skin changes.
Weather changes. Hormones change. Stress changes. Sleep changes. Heating goes on. Winter arrives.
Sometimes your routine needs to change with it.
That’s why I like thinking of skincare as a ritual rather than a fixed set of rules.
What they have in common
Both creams are built around rich everyday moisturisation and a nourishing blend of botanical oils and butters.
You’ll find ingredients such as:
Sunflower oil - a lightweight emollient oil that helps condition the skin.
Shea and cocoa butters - bringing richness and that comforting feel you want from a cream.
Borage and rosehip oils - botanical oils chosen as part of the nourishing oil phase.
Aloe Vera - to soften and soothe.
And importantly, both are made without added fragrance or essential oils.
The only noticeable scent is the faint natural coffee note in The Glow Ritual, which comes from the coffee-derived ingredients themselves.

Where The Nourish Ritual fits
You don’t have to choose between an oil and a cream.
The creams give you your moisturising step, while the facial oil can sit on top when you want something a little richer.
Use your chosen cream first, then press a few drops of The Nourish Ritual over the skin.
Or keep things completely simple and use the cream alone.
There are no points for having the longest skincare routine. Simple is often better.
A gentler approach to skincare
More than anything, I wanted these creams to fit the way I increasingly think about skincare.
Not chasing perfection.
Not throwing everything imaginable at the skin.
Just choosing lovely ingredients, using them consistently and paying attention to what your skin seems to need.
The Calm Ritual is the comforting one.
The Glow Ritual is the brighter one.
Both are fragrance-free. Both are essential-oil-free.
And both are designed to make that everyday moisturising step feel just a little more like a ritual.
